The National Weather Service has issued a HIGH SURF ADVISORY for NORTH FACING SHORES of MAUI and NORTH and WEST FACING SHORES of MOLOKAI, in effect from 6:00 a.m. Thursday until 6:00 a.m. Sunday.
A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
EFFECTS: A northwest swell will build on Thursday. The combination of the swell and fresh westerly winds will produce rough surf along most north and west facing shores through Friday. Additional pulses of northwest swell will maintain large surf into the weekend.
Expect surf of 12 to 16 feet along north facing shores and surf of 8 to 12 feet along the west facing shores of Molokai. Surf will rise on Thursday and peak early Friday. Another pulse of swell is expected on Saturday.

A High Surf Advisory is also in effect for the west facing shores of Maui, Lanai, and Kahoolawe until 6:00 p.m. this evening.
EFFECTS: Surf heights increased above warning threshold again due to a reinforcing northwest swell. Surf will impact areas that are not normally affected by winter swells, including the west facing shores of lanai and some south shorelines, due to the more westerly directional component of the swell.
Surf along north facing shores of Molokai and Maui will be 20 to 30 feet. Along west facing shores of Molokai, 12 to 20 feet.

Surf along west facing shores of Molokai, will be 15 to 20 feet through this evening, lowering to 12 to 18 feet Friday. Surf along west facing shores will increase slightly late Friday and on into Saturday due to a reinforcement of the swell. Surf along west facing shores of Maui will be 12 to 15 through tonight, lowering to 8 to 12 feet Friday. Surf along west facing shores of Lanai and Kahoolawe will be 7 to 10 feet through tonight, lowering to 6 to 9 feet Friday.
