Two Moloka’i men who surrendered to Police after the shoting of two other Moloka’i men have been officially chaeged with attempted murder.
Thursday at about 5 p.m., Chad Naehu, 32, was charged for the offense of Attempted Murder in the First Degree. Bail is set for $1,000,000.00.
About an hour later last night, Travis TORRES, 26, was charged for the offense of Attempted Murder in the First Degree. Bail is set at $1,000,000.00.
Naehu and Torres are currently being held at the Wailuku Police Station.
The Maui Police Department would like to remind the public that there will be road closures and slowed traffic due to this year’s Halloween event.
Police will be closing Front Street from Baker Street to Prison Street at 3:30 p.m. and anticipate on re-opening Front Street at approximately 11 p.m.
The Community support from participants and non-participants is greatly appreciated. Public safety is our number one concern.
Participants and spectators are reminded of the following safeguards that will be employed during the Halloween festivities:
NO PARKING – STREET CLOSURES:
Parking will be prohibited in the following areas between the hours of 3:30 p.m., October 31, 2015 and 2:00 a.m., November 1, 2015:
1. Front Street, from Prison Street to Baker Street
2. Dickenson Street, from Front Street to Baldwin House Parking Lot.
3. Lahainaluna Road, from Front Street to Wainee Street
4. Papalaua Street, from Front Street to the entrance of the Lahaina Center
Violators will be cited and towed at their own expense.

Two men surrendered themselves last night and have been arrested and charged with First Degree Attempted Murder. Chad Kaipo Naehu, 32, from Kaunakakai, Molokai, and Travis Torres, a 26 year old man from Hoolehua, Molokai; were arrested last night at about 10:15 p.m.
Both suspects were arrested for Attempted Murder in the First Degree following the shooting that occurred earlier in the day Wednesday. See that original report here.
Both males turned themselves into Molokai Police Station.
Naehu and Torres are currently in custody at the Molokai Police Station pending the filing of formal charges. Both victims involved in this case were flown to the Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu where they are being treated for gunshot wounds. One person remains in critical condition and the other in guarded condition.

Wednesday afternoon at about 2:30 p.m., Molokai Patrol Officers responded to a residence on Puu Kapele Avenue in Hoolehua after a 911 call was made regarding a person being shot. Upon officers’ arrival, it was determined that two people had been shot at an area away from the residence.
The two victims were taken from the residence via ambulance. One adult male (52 years of age) was taken to Molokai Airport and transported via Air Ambulance to a hospital on Oahu. The second adult male (37 years of age) was taken to Molokai General Hospital. Both victims had sustained a gunshot wound.
The condition of the two men has not been released.
Police are continuing the investigation. There have been no arrests at this time. If anyone has any information, they are asked to contact Molokai Police at (808) 553-5355.
Members of the Maui Police Department and Whaler’s Village, will be participating in a one day, Joint Agency Emergency Preparedness Exercise.
The exercise will run today at the Whaler’s Village, located at 2435 Kaanapali Parkway, Lahaina, from 7 a.m. until 8:30 a.m
UPDATE: Cristian Maggio has been found. He is safe and in good health, according to an MPD press release.
A Maui man is reported missing after he failed to return home following an arrest and court appearance for trespassing this week.
Maui Police say 36 year-old Cristian Maggio was arrested for Criminal Trespass in the First Degree in Lahaina Tuesday. Yesterday, Maggio was transferred to Wailuku District Court and later released at approximately 2 p.m.
A friend reported Maggio missing after he failed to returned home upon his release.
Police checked with Wailuku Receiving Desk, Maui Memorial Medical Center, Maui Community Correctional Center, place of employment and friends, however, was unable to locate the man.
He was last seen leaving Wailuku Court House, wearing red shorts, white t-shirt and black slippers.
