Alan Wong Set to Open Maui Restaurant

05 Jan 2012 - 4:13 pm

Hawaii chef Alan Wong, whose eponymous Honolulu restaurant is a regular stop for President Barack Obama, will open his first Maui restaurant this spring.

The menu at Alan Wong’s Amasia will include cuisine from Hawaii, Asia and other points on the globe in small plates meant for sharing.

“Food brings people together, at the kitchen table or in the plantation fields in many destinations,” Wong said in a statement. “I want to create an elevated local interpretation of this cultural exchange.”

The restaurant will occupy the resort’s former Kincha restaurant space, which is undergoing a $2 million renovation.

In addition to his Alan Wong’s Restaurant in Honolulu, Wong, a founding member of Hawaiian Regional Cuisine, also owns the Pineapple Room by Alan Wong at Macy’s in Ala Moana Center.
