WAILUKU – County employees to the Rescue!!!
The Department of Water Supply (DWS) today announced that repairs to waterline breaks in North Kihei and Haiku have been repaired and service restored in both areas.
Crews worked continuously on the North Kihei break on an 18-inch waterline from early Saturday morning through 12:30 a.m. today, when the repair was completed and water was turned back on.
In Haiku, water was restored at about 1:15 p.m. today after a broken pipe near the Five Corners intersection was repaired.
During the outages, DWS experienced an extremely high volume of calls to its hotline. Not much of a surprise from an underinformed public.
“We would like to thank the public for their patience during this challenging time,” said Water Director David Taylor. “Our crews worked tirelessly to get the repairs done as quickly as possible.”
