At approximately 2:48 Saturday afternoon, fire personnel from Hoolehua (Engine 9) and Kaunakakai (Engine 4) responded to a report of a vehicle accident on Kalae Highway near milepost Three. Ho’olehua crews arrived on the scene and discovered an SUV had collided with a utility pole.
The single occupant of the vehicle was not injured. The collision caused damage to a utility pole which resulted in power outages for portions of Molokai. Maui Electric Company reps responded to the scene and took over that aspect of the operation.
Information about exact locations/areas of power outages and when power will be restored should be requested from MECO.
