Paia firefighters arrived at 5:12 p.m. and found brush and trash burning along Hahana Road, about a half-mile makai of Hana Highway. The fire was called contained at 5:52 p.m. and extinguished at 7:41 p.m.
The fire burned about two acres in an area where people have been dumping household trash. There were no injuries or structures threatened. Cause of the fire was undetermined.
Crews from Paia, Makawao, and Kahului responded to the incident.
