A 25 year-old Pukalani man died early this morning when the motorcycle he was riding failed to negotiate a curve in Wailuku.
Maui Police say that, shortly before 2 a.m. today, Chevis Pacheco Carlos was operating a 2006 Kawasaki ZX-6R motorcycle with license plate number 459 MVD. Carlos was riding along Kahekili Highway near Puuohala Road when he failed to follow a curve. His motorcycle crossed left of center and impacted a guardrail along the east shoulder of the highway.
Carlos sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police investigators say Carlow was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The involvement of speed, drugs and alcohol have not yet been determined. Carlos’ death is the fourth traffic fatality of 2015 – compared with 11 at this time last year.
