A Washington State woman is the apparent victim of a drowning this morning at Ulua Beach in Wailea.
Maui Police say 63 year-old Betty Colleen Drexler from Allyn, WA, was spotted floating on the surface of the water, but was found to be unresponsive. The report came in 9:34 a.m. The woman was pulled from the water by beach goers who began cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Upon the arrival of fire and police, they took over the CPR effort until paramedics arrived. Despite all life saving measures, Drexler was pronounced dead at the scene. Whle the official cause of death is pending an autopsy – the apparent case is drowning.
