EFFECTS: A very large north-northwest swell has arrived and will continue through today. This swell is expected to start lowering tonight with advisory level surf on tap for Saturday.
Expect surf across north facing shores of Molokai and Maui of 22 to 26 feet and across west facing shores of Molokai of 16 to 20 feet.
Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
IMPACTS: EXPECT OCEAN WATER OCCASIONALLY SWEEPING ACROSS PORTIONS OF BEACHES, WITH VERY STRONG BREAKING WAVES AND STRONG LONGSHORE AND RIP CURRENTS. BREAKING WAVES MAY OCCASIONALLY IMPACT HARBORS MAKING NAVIGATING THE HARBOR CHANNEL DANGEROUS.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: LARGE BREAKING SURF, SIGNIFICANT SHOREBREAK, AND DANGEROUS CURRENTS MAKE ENTERING THE WATER VERY HAZARDOUS. ANYONE ENTERING THE WATER COULD FACE SIGNIFICANT INJURY OR DEATH. BOATERS SHOULD BE AWARE OF AN INCREASED NUMBER OF SURFERS AND BODY BOARDERS UTILIZING THE HARBOR CHANNEL TO ACCESS SURFING AREAS.
