The National Weather Service has EXTENDED a FLOOD ADVISORY for the ISLAND OF MOLOKAI now in effect until 2:45 p.m.
This advisory may need to be extended if heavy rain persists.
A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 6:00 a.m. Thursday.
EFFECTS: At 11:29 A.M. radar continued to show moderate to heavy rain affecting central and eastern Molokai. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to continue for the next couple of hours, with rainfall rates of around one (1) inch per hour. Additionally stream levels remain elevated in the vicinity of Kaunakakai and along Highway 450.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: STAY AWAY FROM STREAMS, DRAINAGE DITCHES AND LOW LYING AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING. RAINFALL AND RUNOFF WILL ALSO CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS DUE TO PONDING, REDUCED VISIBILITY AND POOR BRAKING ACTION. DO NOT CROSS FAST FLOWING OR RISING WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE OR ON FOOT. TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN.
