High Winds are continuing to impact Maui County, causing multiple power outages, downed trees, and blocked roads. The strongest winds are expected to begin around 1:00 p.m. possibly accompanied by thunderstorms and lighting.
Winds will gradually diminish after the front passes, with the front expected to clear Maui County tonight.
EFFECTS: Power outages may impact the Department of Water Supply’s water pumping capacity. As a precautionary measure, The Department requests that all consumers-residential and businesses– please conserve water and avoid any unnecessary water use until further notice.
The situation is changing rapidly. Drivers should be aware of debris, downed utility lines, and trees blocking roads. Do not approach or touch downed lines.
