The National Weather Service has issued a WIND ADVISORY for MAUI COUNTY, in effect from noon Friday until 6:00 p.m. Saturday.
A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of at least 30 mph, or gusts of at least 50 mph are expected.
EFFECTS: An approaching front will produce increasing southwest winds late Friday afternoon through early Saturday. Periods of wind gusts to 50 mph can be expected over northeast terrain of the smaller islands by late Friday afternoon, and will likely continue through Saturday.
Expect southwest winds of 15 to 30 mph, with localized gusts over 50 mph, for northeast terrain. Winds will be increasing Friday afternoon, with the strongest winds expected late Friday night and early Saturday.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: WINDS THIS STRONG CAN BRING DOWN TREE BRANCHES AND MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT, ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. MOTORISTS SHOULD USE EXTRA CAUTION.
