Maui Police have promoted two officers to the rank of Captain, assigning them new areas of responsibility.
On February 1, 2015, Peter Delima was promoted to the Rank of Captain and assigned as the Commander of the Internal Affairs Division. He began his career with the Maui Police Department in 1985. After graduating from the Police Recruit Academy, he was assigned to the Wailuku Patrol Division, and later onto the Molokai Patrol Division. After a year on Molokai he was assigned to the Lahaina Patrol Division where he stayed for four years. While in Lahaina he served as a Field Training Officer.
In 1991, Delima was assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Unit until his promotion to Sergeant in 1995. As a Sergeant he served in Wailuku Patrol, Wailuku Criminal Investigation Division, Internal Affairs Division, Vice Division and the School Resource Officer Program.
In 2010, He was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to Command the Lanai District for one year. Upon returning to Maui, he was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division as its Property Crimes Lieutenant. In January of 2014 he took over as the Lieutenant of the Crimes Against Persons Division.
In 2008, He was awarded the Departments Manager of the Year for the County of Maui. Delima has served as a member of the Special Response Teams, Crisis Negotiation Unit since its inception in 1992 and presently serves as its Team Leader. Throughout his career, he has instructed many hours of police recruit and recall training.
He enjoys coaching youth sports with the All Pono Organization for the past 7 years. Delima is married with two children.
Also on February 1, 2015, Ricky Uedoi was promoted to the Rank of Captain and assigned as the Captain of Technical Services.
He began his career with the Maui Police Department in October 1992 with the 44th Recruit Class. After graduation, he was assigned to Wailuku Patrol. He was transferred to Molokai Patrol in December 1993 and back to Wailuku in December 1994. He served as a Field Training Officer in Wailuku Patrol. In July 1997, he was transferred to the Traffic Section’s DUI Task Force. In October 2000, he was assigned to the Vehicle Homicide Unit.
In May 2002, Uedoi was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the Communications Section. A year later, in 2003, he was assigned to Lahaina Patrol Division. In September 2007, he was assigned to the Quality Assurance Section. After reaccreditation in August 2008, he was re-assigned back to Lahaina Patrol. In February 2010, he was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division where he worked in the Crimes Against Property and Crimes Against Persons Unit.
In March 2011, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assigned to Wailuku Patrol Division. In July 2011, he was assigned to Lanai Patrol District as the District Commander. In July 2012 he was assigned to Lahaina Patrol Division, as the Night Commander and in March 2013, he was assigned as the Commander of the Traffic Section. Capt. Uedoi started the project to bringing back the Solo Bike Detail, which is on track to start in 2015.
Capt. Uedoi received MPD’s Department Manager of the Year award in 2012 and received MADD Law Enforcement award in 1998. He is currently attending the 10 week FBI National Academy, 259th session, and will be graduating in March 2015.
Since 2009, Capt. Uedoi has served as a member of the Crisis Negotiation Unit. He is also the president of the Maui Police Relief Association.
Capt. Uedoi is married to Tobie and has three children, Kelsey 23, Kristen 17, and Kason 9.
