The National Weather Service has extended the HIGH SURF ADVISORY for NORTH and WEST FACING SHORES of MOLOKAI and NORTH FACING SHORES OF MAUI, now in effect until 6:00 a.m. Monday.
A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
The High Surf Warning has been cancelled.
EFFECTS: Surf will be15 to 20 feet today along north facing shores of Molokai and
Maui, lowering to 12 to 16 feet tonight. Surf will be 10 to 15 feet today along west facing shores of Molokai, lowering to 8 to 12 feet tonight.
Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: EXPECT STRONG BREAKING WAVES, SHORE BREAK, AND STRONG CURRENTS MAKING SWIMMING DANGEROUS. FOLLOW ALL ADVICE FROM OCEAN SAFETY OFFICIALS AND EXERCISE CAUTION. BOATERS SHOULD WATCH OUT FOR SURFERS AND BODY BOARDERS USING HARBOR CHANNELS TO ACCESS SURFING AREAS.
