The latest broadcast edition of Maui TV News is out. This week’s top story is something we can all see that makes it so we can see almost nothing.
Health experts say the sulfuric dioxide we’ve been breathing all week is rated as “good.” Hmm. Near the origin of the goop – the Pu’u O’o vents near Puna and Pahoa on the Big Island, the emission ranks as “unhealthy.” We’ll “show” you what we’ve learned. Also this week, two more of those new flashing yellow arrow signals have gone up in Kahului. Are the more of a distraction than a direction giver? And, when the phone starts ringing, check that caller ID. The State Health Department will commence a statewide phone survey starting this Monday. Every phone that works is eligible. They want to know if you participate in any “risky behavior” that may impact our state.
Also this week on Maui TV News…
Edward Snowden, the former Honolulu resident who, as a high-level analyst for the National Security Agency, revealed stunning privacy breaches by our government, is scheduled to address a conference next month in Honolulu. How can that happen? We’ll tell you how as well as how you can watch. And, we’ll show how close you can get to a mom and baby humpback whale without getting wet. Actually, we’ll show you how the Ultimate Whale Watch did just that last Saturday off Lahaina. Amazing video!
In Sports, It’s been a very, very good year for the Maui High Sabers…and it continues to be a very, very good year for the basketball Lahaina Lady Lunas. In Curtain Call, Paul Janes-Brown says “Burnin’ Love” at the Maui Theater has been tuned up over the premier year and is better than ever. And Coming Attractions…LOTS of ’em – including whale, running while watching whales, the Shanghai Circus for two shows, Judy Collins at the MACC, the 2015 Fringe Festival..and lots more.
