A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
EFFECTS: A northwest swell expected to arrive tonight will produce advisory level surf across north and west facing shores of Molokai and across north facing shores of Maui. This advisory may need to be extended if this swell persists beyond Friday morning.
Expect surf of 12 to 16 feet along north facing shores of Molokai and Maui. Expect surf of 8 to 12 feet along west facing shores of Molokai, from midnight tonight through 6 a.m. Friday.
Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
