The National Weather Service has continued a HIGH SURF ADVISORY for NORTH FACING SHORES of MAUI and MOLOKAI, in effect until 6:00 a.m. Thursday.
A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
EFFECTS: A north swell will increase tonight and remain elevated through early Thursday. Expect surf building tonight, peaking at heights of 10 to 16 feet Wednesday, and then gradually diminishing.
Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
IMPACTS: EXPECT STRONG BREAKING WAVES, SHORE BREAK, AND STRONG LONGSHORE AND RIP CURRENTS, MAKING SWIMMING DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: BEACHGOERS, SWIMMERS, AND SURFERS SHOULD HEED ALL ADVICE GIVEN BY OCEAN SAFETY OFFICIALS AND EXERCISE CAUTION. WHEN IN DOUBT…DON’T GO OUT.
