A Third attempted theft of an automated teller machine in the last 30 days shattered the early morning hours Sunday in Ma’alaea.
Maui Police say an unknown number of suspects shattered the windows of Hula Cookies in the Shops At Ma’alaeaat 3:45 a.m. The crook(s) got away with the machine. No word on whether or not cookies or ice cream were also swiped. Police in all three recent ATM cases have declined to say how much money thieves might have pulled from the machines. Viewers of the cult TV series “Breaking Bad” might remember how hard a time thieves had trying to crack into the ATM even though they successfully got it unanchored and dragged it home.
Damages to the business are estimates at $5,000. Plus whatever was in the ATM.
