The National Weather Service in Honolulu has ISSUED a FLOOD ADVISORY for the ISLAND OF MOLOKAI, LANAI, AND WEST MAUI in effect until 9:45 p.m.
EFFECTS: At 6:37 p.m. radar showed a line of heavy rain lying across the island of Lanai, east Molokai and west Maui. This line of heavy rain was nearly stationary.
Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Lanai City, Halawa Valley, Pukoo, Lahaina, and Kaanapali. See the latest animated radar here.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: STAY AWAY FROM STREAMS, DRAINAGE DITCHES AND LOW LYING AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING. RAINFALL AND RUNOFF WILL ALSO CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS DUE TO PONDING, REDUCED VISIBILITY AND POOR BRAKING ACTION. DO NOT CROSS FAST FLOWING OR RISING WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE OR ON FOOT. TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN.
