The National Weather Service has issued a WIND ADVISORY for the HALEAKALA summit, in effect until 6:00 p.m. today.
A Wind Advisory means that sustained winds of at least 30 mph, or gusts of at least 50 mph, are expected.
EFFECTS: Winds have increased to Advisory level over the Haleakala summit on Maui and this has warranted a Wind Advisory until 6 p.m. today. Expect northeast winds of 40 to 50 mph with localized gusts over 60 mph.
IMPACTS: WINDS THIS STRONG CAN BRING DOWN TREE BRANCHES AND MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT, ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES.
