The National Weather Service has continued the FLASH FLOOD WATCH for MAUI COUNTY, in effect until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. Remember that it does not have to be raining heavily where you are for flash flooding to occur. Please monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take immediate action if flash flood warnings are issued.
EFFECTS: A disturbance aloft will drop over the islands today. The potential for heavy flooding rainfall and thunderstorms will be state-wide through Wednesday afternoon.
In addition to possible flash flooding, excessive runoff may result in rock and mudslides in steep terrain. Fast moving waters may create life threatening situations..
Please monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take immediate action if flash flood warnings are issued.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: RAINFALL AND RUNOFF WILL CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS DUE TO PONDING, REDUCED VISIBILITY AND POOR BRAKING ACTION. DO NOT CROSS FAST FLOWING OR RISING WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE OR ON FOOT. TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN.
