The National Weather Service has ISSUED a FLASH FLOOD WATCH for MAUI COUNTY in effect from 6:00 p.m. this evening until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday.
EFFECTS: An upper level trough and an associated surface cold front boundary will bring potential for heavy rain and thunderstorms across the county from tonight through Wednesday. View the latest animated radar loop.
Locally heavy rain may produce rainfall amounts of 3 inches or more. If these amounts occur within a short period of time, flash flooding may occur.
In addition to possible flash flooding, excessive runoff may result in rock and mudslides in steep terrain. Fast moving waters may create life threatening situations..
Please monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take immediate action if flash flood warnings are issued.
