The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for the Island of Molokai, in effect until 3:30 p.m. This advisory may need to be extended if heavy rain persists.
EFFECTS: At 12:24 p.m. radar showed heavy rain falling along northern slopes of Molokai and in Halawa Valley, leading to a rise in water levels within Halawa stream. The area of heavy rain will otherwise remain mainly over rural areas of Molokai.
There continues to be a FLASH FLOOD WATCH in effect for all of Maui County until Wednesday evening.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: STAY AWAY FROM STREAMS, DRAINAGE DITCHES AND LOW LYING AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING. RAINFALL AND RUNOFF WILL ALSO CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS DUE TO PONDING, REDUCED VISIBILITY AND POOR BRAKING ACTION. DO NOT CROSS FAST FLOWING OR RISING WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE OR ON FOOT. TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN.
