The Department of Water Supply (DWS) would like to warn its customers of unauthorized phone calls for water bill payment. The DWS has received reports that someone claiming to be a DWS representative is calling customers and demanding payment for a delinquent account, stating that a representative will be collecting in two hours.
Representatives of the DWS normally make collection calls in the morning, not in the afternoon. DWS employees can be identified by their County of Maui identification badge, DWS uniform and County of Maui vehicle.
Water bill payment is accepted at the County building lobby, the Service Center at Maui Mall, and the DWS baseyards in Lahaina, Hana, and Molokai. The Service Center accepts checks only. More information is available on the second page of the monthly water bill.
Customers who receive suspicious calls regarding water bill payment should contact the DWS Fiscal/Customer Service Office at 270-7730 and the Maui Police Department’s non-emergency line at 244-6400.
