Maui Fire Department crews from Lahaina and Kahului were joined by Air-1 to rescue a 63 year-old man who was injured hiking the Pali trail today. Crews responded to the 12:47 p.m. alarm. Firefighters hiked about a mile into the trail when they came upon the man.
The hiker was suffering from an injured knee and injuries to his forehead and cheek when he fell and hit some rocks on the trail. The male visitor, who was hiking with his wife, was airlifted by Air-1 and Rescue personnel to a landing zone located at the Ukumehame Firing Range. He was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center by Medics in stable condition.
