A suspicious death on Moloka’i in May has yielded an arrest of a suspect.
Thirty-nine year-old Jeffrey Kalani Davis of Kunakaka’i was arrested at 11:10 this morning on the strength of a Grand Jury Indictment for:
- Murder II
- Carrying or Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Separate Felony
- Ownership or Possession Prohibited of Any Firearm
- Place to Keep Pistol or Revolver.
Bail was set at $1,200,000.
This indictment stemmed from an incident that occurred on May 20 this year. At 6:45 a.m. that day, in the area of Mile Marker 15, Kamehameha Highway in Mapulehu, Molokai, a male traveling by moped observed a male lying motionless on a dirt roadway. Officers, Medics and Fire responded to the area and observed the unresponsive male individual laying on the dirt roadway. Attempts to revive the male were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation revealed that the male individual sustained an apparent head injury. The death was considered suspicious. The male victim was identified as 20 year-old Koshari Kahikili from Mapulehu, Molokai.
The Criminal Investigation Division on Molokai conducted an investigation, which revealed that Jeffrey Kalani Davis is alleged to be involved.
