A Haiku man has been charged with a variety of offenses after a November 12 crime spree.
Maui Police say 27 year-old Kingston Cayaban was charged with four crimes stemming from an incident in the Home Depot parking lot that night:
- First Degree Robbery
- Assault in the Second Degree
- Unauthorized Entry Into a Motor Vehicle
According to the MPD report, at 8:03 p.m. that night a man was parked in his car at the Kahului retail store when a man, later identified as Cayaban, entered his vehicle brandishing a knife and demanding the victim’s property. The victim accelerated his vehicle, impacting a barricade. After impact, Cayaban fled the scene and the victim endured minor injuries.
A 21 year-old Haiku woman was also arrested in connection with the case. She was released and the case forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office. Bail for Cayaban was set at $46,000.00.
