The National Weather Service has continued the HIGH SURF ADVISORY for NORTH FACING SHORES of MOLOKAI and MAUI, in effect until 6:00 a.m. Saturday.
EFFECTS: A long period northwest swell arrived yesterday followed by another reinforcing pulse of northwest swell last night, peaking today. This swell will then gradually diminish from tonight through the weekend.
Expect surf of 15 to 20 feet today, then 12 to 18 tonight along north facing shores. Surf will be 10 to 14 feet today, then 8 to 12 feet tonight, along west facing shores.
Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: EXPECT STRONG BREAKING WAVES, SHORE BREAK, AND STRONG LONGSHORE AND RIP CURRENTS, MAKING SWIMMING DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS. BEACHGOERS, SWIMMERS, AND SURFERS SHOULD HEED ALL ADVICE GIVEN BY OCEAN SAFETY OFFICIALS AND EXERCISE CAUTION.
