WAILUKU – Road reconstruction on Wells Street in Wailuku will be taking place on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) beginning today. Work will take place from 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. Major construction is expected to be completed by October 19,  with minor weekday work expected to be completed by the end of November, 2014.

Work will not take place during the weekend of the Maui Fair, October 4 and 5.

The first phase of construction will take place between High Street and Church Street. Phase 2 will take place between Church Street and Kinopopo Street; Phase 3 will take place between Kinipopo Street and Waiale Road.

Area residents have been notified, and work is being done primarily on weekends to minimize traffic disruptions. The department thanks the public for their patience as this important project is completed, and asks motorists to comply with all traffic control measures while driving through the work zones.
