The National Weather Service has issued a HIGH SURF ADVISORY for SOUTH FACING SHORES of MAUI COUNTY, in effect until from 6:00 a.m. Saturday through 6:00 a.m. Monday.
EFFECTS: Forerunners of an expected south swell have begun to arrive within our buoy array. Surf along south facing shores will reach advisory level Saturday morning and last through the weekend.
Surf heights of 5 to 8 feet are expected along south facing shores Saturday morning through Sunday night.
Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: EXPECT STRONG BREAKING WAVES, SHORE
BREAK, AND STRONG LONGSHORE AND RIP CURRENTS, MAKING SWIMMING DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS. BEACHGOERS, SWIMMERS, AND SURFERS SHOULD HEED ALL ADVICE GIVEN BY OCEAN SAFETY OFFICIALS AND EXERCISE CAUTION.
