Maui Fire Department crews are – thankfully – in “mop-up mode” after 60 acres were charred in the hills above Ka’anapali Coffee Farms. The fire was called 100 percent contained and under control at 6:20 a.m. today.
The fire was first reported shortly before noon, Tuesday. In the blaze – which did not damage any homes or structures – several utility poles sustained damage. Power was out for many in the Pu’ukoli’i neighborhood for several hours while Maui Electric crews made emergency repairs.
