A Honolulu man is an apparent drowning victim after his body was found floating in the ocean off the coast of Lana’i Late Saturday night. As of this morning, the cause of death of 42 year-old Frank Pablo is still categorized as undetermined until autopsy results are released.
Maui Police received a call at 10:12 p.m. Saturday after reports of a man’s body floating in the ocean in the bay off the Lapaiki Trail on Lana’i. Pablo and a friend had been diving the area when the friend discovered Pablo unresponsive. He was taken to shore where cardiopulmonary resuscitation was begun. First responders continued CPR on arrival, then transported Pablo up the trail.
Pablo was transported to Lana’i Community Hospital where, despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead.
