The National Weather Service has extended a HIGH SURF ADVISORY for SOUTH FACING SHORES of MAUI COUNTY, in effect until 6:00 a.m. Sunday and has canceled a HIGH SURF ADVISORY for EAST FACING SHORES of MAUI COUNTY.
EFFECTS: SOUTH SHORES – A moderate sized swell continues to bring advisory level surf to south facing shores through Saturday night. High Surf Advisory now in effect until 6am Sunday. Expect surf of 6 to 10 feet on south facing shores through the remainder of this afternoon and 6 to 9 feet Saturday.
EAST SHORES – High surf advisory for east facing shores is canceled. Surf along east facing shores will be 4 to 7 feet through the remainder of this afternoon, and 4 to 6 feet Saturday.
Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: EXPECT STRONG BREAKING WAVES, SHORE BREAK, AND STRONG LONGSHORE AND RIP CURRENTS, MAKING SWIMMING DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS. ALWAYS HEED LIFEGUARD ADVICE AND KNOW YOUR LIMITS. WHEN IN DOUBT DON’T GO OUT.
