A Lahaina home is a total loss after a red hot fire caused nearly a million dollars in damage Saturday evening.
At 5:49 p.m. yesterday, Maui Firefighters from Lahaina, Napili, Wailuku, and Kihei responded to 908 Kana Place in Lahaina for a report of a structure fire. Crews arrived on scene to a fully engulfed, single family, two-story home. Everyone was out of the home by the time fire fighters arrived. The fire displaced seven people. The Maui Chapter of the Red Cross is assisting the fire victims with temporary accommodations, advice and counseling.
Fire was called under control at 7:28 p.m., overhaul operations followed and the fire was called extinguished at 11:28 p.m. No injuries were reported. Damage estimates were $700,000.00 to the structure and $200,000.00 for the contents.
The cause of the fire was undetermined after the investigation.
