A 12 year-old Japanese boy is safe after losing his sail in choppy conditions yesterday at Kanaha Beach on Maui’s North Shore.
At 4:40 p.m. Thursday, Maui Fire Department’s Engine 10 fire fighters from Kahului along with Rescue 10 personnel responded to Kanaha beach park for a windsurfer who lost his sail approximately 100 yards off shore. Fire personnel on scene at Ka’a Point observed the victim with a kite surfer. Fire ski rescue watercraft 10 retrieved the victim and brought him safely to shore.
The windsurfer, a 12 year-old male from Japan, was brought to shore and met with his mother. He required no medical attention.
