ANCHORAGE – A magnitude 6.0 earthquake that rattled parts of Alaska and the Yukon Territory did not generate a tsunami. Scientists and seismologists say the strong quake struck at 1:49 a.m. HST.
There are no immediate reports of damage and no tsunami warnings or alerts were issued. The quake was felt in Yakutat, as well as Whitehorse in the Yukon. Yakutat is a Gulf of Alaska community about 45 miles southwest of the Canada border.
