Maui Police are still looking for a man who escaped from the low risk section of Maui Community Correctional Center Saturday night. The only new information is that Junior Jorju was last seen wearing a green prison jumpsuit. Jorju was present Saturday at 7 p.m. for a head count, but was nowhere to be found during the 9:30 p.m. headcount Saturday.
Police arrived at the county jail at 10:05 p.m. and conducted a search of the facility and grounds with no success. Jorju was serving a 14 day sentence for driving without a license. According to the Police report, he left the facility with their knowledge or permission.
Jorju is described as a Micronesian male, 40 years old, with black hair and brown eyes. He is five feet, four inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds. He also goes by the aliases of JJ and Ken Taylor.
Police say anyone with information should call the MPD non-emergence line at 244-6400. If spotted, they say not to approach Jorju – who is likely no longer wearing the green jumpsuit. If seen, Police say call 911.
