The National Weather Service has CONTINUED a HIGH SURF ADVISORY for NORTH FACING SHORES of MAUI and NORTH and WEST FACING SHORES of MOLOKAI, in effect until 6:00 a.m. Sunday.
A High Surf Advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in the advisory area, producing rip currents and localized beach erosion.
EFFECTS: Surf will be 14 to 18 feet for north facing shores and 8 to 12 feet along west facing shores through tonight.
Forecast surf heights are estimates of the height of the face or front of waves.
Expect strong breaking waves, shore break, and strong rip currents, making swimming difficult and dangerous.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: BEACHGOERS, SWIMMERS, AND SURFERS SHOULD HEED ALL ADVICE GIVEN BY OCEAN SAFETY OFFICIALS AND EXERCISE CAUTION. BOATERS SHOULD EXPECT RECREATIONAL SURFERS AND BODY BOARDERS UTILIZING HARBOR CHANNELS TO ACCESS SURFING AREAS.
