EVENT: The National Weather Service in Honolulu has ISSUED a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for MOLOKAI, until 12:30 p.m. today. See the latest radar loop here. A Flood Advisory has been added to the Moloka’i warning – in effect until at least 2:30 p.m.. That will be extended if need be.
EFFECTS: At 10:47 a.m. radar showed a severe thunderstorm capable of producing quarter size hail, and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located 2 miles northwest of Kaunakakai. This storm was moving east at 10 mph.
A FLOOD WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT UNTIL SUNDAY AT 6:00 A.M.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES This is a dangerous storm. If you are in its path, prepare immediately for damaging winds, and deadly cloud to ground lightning. People outside should move to a shelter, preferably inside a strong building but away from windows.
