Maui Police have confirmed the discovery of a dead body in the area of Twin Falls, Haiku.
Mauiwatch first reported the fact earlier this afternoon. Now MPD has confirmed some details. Late Thursday night, a local hunter was hunting in the area of Twin Falls. The hunter came across an abandoned camp site and upon checking, he located skeletal remains that he believed to be that of a human being. The hunter left the area and notified police.
Police responded, and with the assistance of the hunter, the camp site was located. The human remains were discovered, however, police were unable to determine age or gender of the victim due to the deteriorated state. Cause of death is pending further investigation. No speculation on the identity of the person is being sought or released at this time. The case is being classified as an “unattended death.”
