A man visiting Maui is now missing. Maui Police and Maui Search and Rescue are asking the public’s help in locating a 50 year-0ld man on Maui who may be in some form of mental distress.
David Allen Jankata was last seen on February 22 this year near Keanae in East Maui. His girlfriend reported him missing this week. Janatka was on vacation in Hawaii, and is believed to be suffering from a mental disorder. On Febuary 22, MPD units from the District of Hana observed Janatka’s rental vehicle at the bottom of Ulaino Road unattended, windows down, keys within, along with his belongings. Janatka was not in the area and a search proved unsuccessful. Per Lt. Stephen Orikasa, Hana received reports that a person matching Janatka’s description was observed heading out of Hana, with the last sighting being in the area of Keanae.
Janatka is described as a caucasian male, about 50 years of age, 5′ 10″ tall and about 175 pounds. The missing man has blue eyes, but his clothing is undetermined – stylewise – at this time. Janatka is believed to be suffering from a mental condition, he was last seen talking to himself and acting irrationally. Janatka may be in need of medical attention.
