Wind Advisory Continued Through This Evening

19 Feb 2013 - 8:30 am

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has continued the WIND ADVISORY for MAUI COUNTY, in effect until 6:00 p.m. Today.

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 30 mph and gusts of 50 mph are expected.

EFFECTS: High pressure far north of the State will maintain strong and gusty trade winds through today. Winds from the east will be 20 to 35 mph with localized gusts over 50 mph.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT, ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION WHILE DRIVING. SECURE ANY LOOSE OBJECTS THAT MAY BECOME AIRBORNE OR MOVE THEM INDOORS.

INFORMATION: Maui County Civil Defense will continue to monitor the situation. Please listen to your local radio and TV stations or NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts for any updates. NOAA Weather Broadcasts can be reached by calling 1-866-944-5025. NOAA Weather Internet services can be found at www.prh.noaa.gov/hnl.

Pre-recorded advisories and notifications are available 24-hours a day on the Maui County Automated Information System (AIS) by calling 986-1200.
