Maui County Paramedic Medic 2 (Makawao) responded to a residence in Paia for reports of a local male that was found unresponsive.

Upon arrival, at 12:38pm Saturday, the 15 year old local male patient was found under the care of Engine 2 (Paia). Per a witness on scene, the male was operating a dirt bike earlier in the day and had wrecked.

The male lost consciousness at the crash site for a few seconds before regaining consciousness and then driving to the Paia residence where he was found. Shortly after arriving there he became unresponsive and EMS was activated. The patient was transported in critical condition to and awaiting trauma team at Maui Memorial Medical center while receiving Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support from the attending Paramedic while in route.

It is unknown if the patient was wearing a helmet at the time of his crash.
