The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a WIND ADVISORY for the HALEAKALA SUMMIT, including Haleakala National Park above 6000 feet, in effect until 6 p.m. this evening.
A Wind Advisory means that winds of 30 mph and gusts of 50 mph are expected.
EFFECTS: East winds around 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are increasing over Haleakala summit through this afternoon.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT, ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION WHILE DRIVING. SECURE ANY LOOSE OBJECTS THAT MAY BECOME AIRBORNE OR MOVE THEM INDOORS.
