Maui Police report “all clear” tonight after a scary afternoon in Wailuku.
The U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Detection/Demolition (EOD/D) team examined the device and discovered no explosives present and that the device was not a danger.
EOD classified the device as a “hoax IED”. The police then recovered the device and will be submitting it as evidence.
At about 8:50 p.m., the “all clear” was issued. The Maui Civil Defense and Red Cross were contacted and informed of the “all clear”.
The investigation is on-going and any additional information will be relayed. An arrest has been made, according to sources, but no identities or nature of charges have been released.
