The National Weather Service in Honolulu has continued the WIND ADVISORY for MAUI COUNTY in effect until 10:00 p.m. this evening.
A Wind Advisory means that winds of 30 mph and gusts of 50 mph are expected.
EFFECTS: A shear line near Kauai and Oahu will move south across the State through tonight before weakening. Strong and gusty northeast winds behind the shear line will be accelerated through the channels and valleys and downslope across leeward sections.
Northeast winds to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph this evening.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT, ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION WHILE DRIVING. SECURE ANY LOOSE OBJECTS THAT MAY BECOME AIRBORNE OR MOVE THEM INDOORS.
