The budget takes into account the latest in “best practices” in budgeting for results. In developing the proposed budget, Mayor Arakawa asked the departments to strategically evaluate their current operations, their purpose, how they achieve that purpose and what they use to measure success.
“This was a bold challenge, a change from the way that we’ve always done it,” said Mayor Arakawa. “But it is truly a change to make sure that our action has vision and our vision is put into action. This transition to results based budgeting is an ongoing process but one that will reap benefits for decades to come.”
After the speech Mayor Arakawa along with Budget Director Sandy Baz will be available for questions regarding the budget until 10 a.m. in the 9th floor conference room.”
