As we continue to experience heavy rain throughout the islands, flooding will continue to occur during and after the rain.  Remember that flood water may contain hazardous materials, such as fertilizers, transmission fluids, etc. that are part of the landscape. 

There are health concerns as we move forward in this wet weather episode. 

1. Flood waters may contain high levels of germs that can cause severe health problems.  Below is a link to a document from the Department of Health on Leptospirosis.

 2. Home with water damage will be at risk for the development of mold.  Below is a link from the EPA on mold and their recommendation for clean-up.
