Moloka’i Flood Advisory Extended to 4 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the FLOOD ADVISORY for MOLOKAI in effect until 4:00 p.m.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is also in effect for all MAUI COUNTY until 4:00 p.m. Friday.

This Advisory may need to be extended beyond 4:00 p.m., if heavy rain persists.  View the latest looping satellite images here. View the latest looping radar images here.

EFFECTS: At 12:42 p.m., radar showed heavy rain across East Molokai nearly stationary. Other locations in the advisory include all of the Island of Molokai.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: STAY AWAY FROM STREAMS, DRAINAGE DITCHES AND LOW LYING AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING. RAINFALL AND RUNOFF WILL ALSO CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS DUE TO PONDING, REDUCED VISIBILITY AND POOR BRAKING ACTION. DO NOT CROSS FAST FLOWING OR RISING WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE OR ON FOOT. TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN.

INFORMATION: Maui County Civil Defense will continue to monitor the situation. Please listen to your local radio and TV stations or NOAA Weather Radio for any updates. NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts can be reached by calling 1-866-944-5025. The NOAA Weather internet services can be found at www.prh.noaa.gov/hnl.
