Maui Police say a “major automobile accident” has closed Honoapi’ilani Highway at the 14-mile marker near Olowalu. The southbound lane is blocked.

No word on the cause of the accident – although very heavy rains are hitting nearly all of West Maui. Also, no word on the extent of any injuries or when the road might reopen to southbound traffic.
